Our Story
A Summer Vacation That Never Ended
Our story began with a summer vacation, when we first fell in love with Pagosa Springs and the scenery that surrounds it. What started as a memorable getaway grew into a permanent move to this mountain town.
Tony came from Arizona, where he spent years running a business in the desert heat. The San Juan River changed that. One afternoon on the water with a fly rod was enough to make him rethink everything. These days he is more likely to be on the river than anywhere else, reading hatches on the San Juan or exploring a stretch of the Piedra that most people drive past. Fly fishing is not just a hobby. It is the reason he understands river frontage, water access, and recreational property the way he does.
Christine came from Illinois and traded flat prairie winters for real ones. When she is not working alongside Tony on a transaction, she is on the court at Pagosa Pickleball, and the rest of the time she and our three dogs are making the most of snowy mountain seasons.
Our children and grandchildren now call the San Juans home, three generations of Kaufman’s rooted in one place. That kind of connection shapes how they work. We know the land, the water, the roads, and the people. Whether you are planning a full-time move, searching for a ranch, or looking for hunting or fly-fishing property, we have the deep roots and local insight to help you find your piece of the San Juans.
